On this page
This weekly planner printable does more than a plain calendar. Each day gets its own box, starting with Monday and ending with a wide Sunday box. Down the right side you will find Top goals, a To do list with tick boxes and a space for notes. It all fits on a single page, so you can see your whole week at a glance.
What is on the page
The day boxes hold your appointments and plans. Sunday is wider because many people use it for looking back and getting ready. Top goals has three lines, and that number matters. If everything is a priority, nothing is. The To do list has seven tick boxes for smaller jobs, and Notes catches anything else.
No dates are printed, so you can start on any week and use it all year.
How to use this weekly planner printable
Set aside ten minutes before the week begins. Write down your three top goals first. Next, block out the fixed things in each day box. Then look for gaps and place your goals in them. A goal with a day and a time is far more likely to get done than a wish in your head.
- Choose goals you can finish this week.
- Move leftover tasks to next week instead of feeling bad.
- Tick boxes as you go, since it feels great.
- Use Notes for phone numbers, ideas and shopping items.
Who it is good for
Students can track homework, tests and club meetings. Parents can hold the whole family's week in one place. Freelancers and small business owners can keep an eye on deadlines. Anyone who feels scattered will likely enjoy having one page that holds it all.
It also helps people who find apps too busy. A paper page has no alerts. Writing by hand slows you down. That is enough time to think about what really matters this week, and to leave off the things that do not.
Make it a Sunday habit
Pick a time, such as after dinner on Sunday. Make a cup of tea and sit down with your planner. Look at last week first, and ask what worked. Then plan the next one. After a month, the habit tends to run on its own.
The idea of writing down your tasks is well studied. The page on time management on Wikipedia covers a few popular methods if you want to go further.
Printing tips
Print a stack for the year and keep them in a binder. Hole punched pages make a cheap homemade planner. Pretty paper in a soft color makes it feel a bit special, and thick paper stops ink from showing through.
Choose goals that work
A good goal is small and clear. Clean the house is vague and tiring to read. Clean out the hall closet on Saturday is something you can actually finish. Try to write each goal so that a friend could tell if it was done. If a job feels too big, split it into smaller parts and put one in each day box.
Be kind to yourself about the plan, too, because no week ever goes exactly as written. Life moves things around. If a sick child or a late train eats your Tuesday, move the task along and carry on. The page is there to help you, not to judge you. Many people fill in only about half of it, and that is still a win.
At the end of the week, write one line in the Notes box about what went well. Over a few months, those small notes add up. You will start to see which days suit hard work best, and you can plan around them.
