Stay safe. Add reflective tape to dark costumes, carry a flashlight and check all candy before eating it. Classroom parties often fall on the Friday before, so note the date and what you need to send.

This is the best time for a walk in the woods. Leaves often peak in the first half of October in the northern states, and later farther south. Many states post a fall color map online. Pick a weekend, pack some snacks and go.
